The Asbury University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced
on May 29, 2019 that Zack Parsons has been named Head Softball Coach. Parsons, who coached the Eagles on an interim basis in 2019, will begin his new role as AU's head coach immediately.

"Coach Parsons has quickly established himself as one of the bright young softball coaches in our region," said Mark Whitworth, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics. "He is a talented and dedicated leader, who understands the intricacies of player development. He also has
established a bold vision for the softball program consistent with the mission of our University.
We are very pleased to have him join TeamAU."

"I am very humbled and blessed by the opportunity to lead the Asbury University Softball
program," said Parsons. "As the Interim Head Coach, I felt like we made positive strides in several
areas of our game and I am extremely excited about the future of the program. We have a solid
group of returning players and a talented incoming class that will help us continue building on
our program's development."

Parsons has a wealth of experience in the game of softball. For the past 10 years, he has served
as a lead skills instructor in Lancaster, Ky. where he provides individual pitching and hitting
lessons to developing athletes in the central Kentucky region. Several of his clients have gone on
to play collegiate softball, including at the Division I level.

As an interim coach, Parsons helped improve several team statistics during the 2019 season.
Asbury recorded 70 more hits and 30 more doubles than the previous season. The Eagles also
increased their totals in walks, RBI, homeruns, and runs scored. Averaging 1.61 doubles per game, AU led the River States Conference.

Prior to Asbury, Parsons was an assistant coach at East Jessamine High School in Nicholasville,
Ky., during the 2018 season where the Lady Jaguars finished as the 12th Region Runner-Up and
46th District Champions with an overall 28-3 record.

He also has an extensive background in travel softball, coaching for the Fury Fastpitch Bray under the Connect Sports/Fury Fastpitch organization (Chattanooga, Tenn.), formerly known as the Jinx Elite organization (Richmond, Ky.). The 2021-22 showcase travel ball team has competed on the national level.

Parsons received his B.S. Degree in Exercise Science from Georgetown College in 2015. He also earned a Master's from the University of Louisville in Counseling & Personnel Services, with a concentration in College Student Personnel in 2017.
