On Tuesday, January 6th, Asbury Athletics named Matthew Johnson as its Director of Athletic Communications and Events.

Johnson, a 2023 Asbury University graduate and five-year member of the Eagles baseball program, joins the Asbury Athletic Communications staff and will assume his duties effective immediately.

Johnson previously served as a two-year graduate assistant within the Asbury Athletics Department, where he contributed to athletic communications, media relations, and game-day and special event operations.

"We are beyond excited to welcome back Matthew to our TeamAU family," said Associate Athletics Director Ben Andrews. "His time with us as a student-athlete and a graduate assistant, paired with the experience he gained after graduation made his appointment an easy decision. I can't wait to witness the value he brings to our university and department and am excited for the NCAA DIII and CCS to experience it as well."

In his new role as Director of Athletic Communications and Events, Johnson will oversee departmental communications strategy, serve as the primary media relations contact, and manage event operations across all athletic programs.

Asbury Athletics looks forward to Johnson's leadership and continued advancement of its communications and events efforts.

Johnson began his work on Monday, January 5th.
