The Asbury University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced in October 2022 that
Ally Moore was named head coach for the softball program.
In Coach Moore's third year leading the Eagles in 2025, AU won their most games since 2010 (22), tied the school-record for home runs in a season (21), hit for the third-best team batting average in program history (.319), tallied the third-most RBIs in school history (185), and reached a six-game winning streak. Asbury went 22-14 overall, 9-7 in their first season competing in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS), and won 13 of their 20 road contests.
Moore and the AU softball program collected three NCCAA Mideast All-Region team members in the 2024 season, including the Mideast Player of the Year Taylor Enlow. The team won 13 games on the year and completed three sweeps on the year, including one to finish their season.
In Moore's first season leading Asbury softball in 2023, three Eagles were named to the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Mideast All-Region Team. Coach Moore's club won 14 games in her first season and pulled off three sweeps on the year.
Moore, who served as an assistant coach during the 2022 season, was a standout pitcher for the Eagles from 2017-2021. The Lawrenceburg, Ky., native graduated cum laude from Asbury in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Mathematics. She went on to earn an MBA at AU in May 2022.
After missing the entire 2018 season due to injury, Moore returned to action in 2019 and was named AU's Comeback Player of the Year at the annual Eagle Awards. As a senior in 2021, Moore was named first-team all-conference, leading the Eagles to their first conference tournament appearance in several years.
In 2021, Moore led Asbury on the mound with 124.1 innings pitched (only 64 runs allowed), 53 strikeouts, a team-leading eight wins, nine complete games, two shutouts, and an impressive 3.33 ERA. Moore's career pitching stats at Asbury rank among the top with 21 wins, 144 strikeouts, and 20 complete games.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this team and the Asbury community," Moore said. "I am thankful for all those who inspired me in my journey in coaching, and I thank God every day for opening the door for me to continue being involved in a sport that I am extremely passionate about. I am excited to lead these young women, not only on the field, but in life and in Christ. Go Eagles!"
"We are very thankful to have Coach Moore stepping into this important role,"
Mark Whitworth, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics & University Communications said. "She pursued this opportunity with the same determination, tenacity, and patience that she displayed as a standout pitcher. Ally brings a deep understanding of our softball program, having achieved all-conference honors as an Asbury student-athlete and most recently serving as an assistant coach. She is familiar with the unique demands of a rigorous academic experience while competing and training as a college athlete."
