Assistant Coach
Akeem Scott enters his second season on the bench for the Eagles in 2013-14. In 2012-13, coach Scott helped lead the Eagles to a 23-10 record, recording the most wins in team history. The Eagles went 10-5 to finish third in the regular season standings, going on to play in the KIAC Championship game for the second time in school history.
Prior to joining the Eagles staff in 2012 Scott was an assistant at Kentucky Christian University from 2008 until 2009 where his team amassed an overall record of 15-18 and made an appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament. Two All-Americans for KCU played under Scott as an assitant. After leaving KCU, Scott joined the Montgomery County High School staff as a coach for three of the school's basketball programs. He was there for two years.
Scott received his MA in Information Technolgoy Systems in 2009 from the University of Phoenix. Scott also received his Bachelor's Degree in University and Biblical Studies from Kentucky Christian where he played basketball after transferring from Campbellsville University.
While at KCU, he , became the third All-Time leading scorer with 2,100 pts in 3 years averaging 24.3 pts a game. His records at KCU include Most 3 Pointers in a single game with 11, Most 3’s in a single season with 196, and he also became the fastest player to score 1,000 points in a single season. Scott also went to three National Tournaments with KCU, advancing to the Final Four all three times. Scott was honored as a First Team All-American three times, as well as, a two time Regional Player of the Year, and Player of the Year Finalist.
After graduating from KCU, Scott played professional basketball for the Bluegrass Stallions, an ABA team located in Lexington, KY under head coach Kyle Macy.
Coach Scott currently resides in Mount Sterling, Ky., with his wife Jamica and son Shaddai.
