Samantha DeMartine begins her third season at the helm of the Asbury softball program in 2016.
DeMartine led to the Eagles to a KIAC Tournament Runner-Up finish in the 2014 KIAC tournament after finishing the season 19-26. In 2015, Demartine's squad finished the year with a record of 15-20 overall and 10-14 on the regular season in the conference tournament. The Eagles attempted another run through the KIAC Championships but were ousted by Carlow University 3-0 on day two. DeMartine's Eagles were honored with three All-KIAC selections in Julie Jarboe (2nd), Madi Adair (2nd) and Kylee Gorby.
DeMartine came to Asbury as an assistant, but took over the head coach role midway through the 2013 season.
DeMartine served as an assistant with Asbury Head Coach Marisa Abell at Lafayette High School in 2011-12 after a four-year career at the University of Kentucky. DeMartine was part of the 2011 Wildcats team that won the Ann Arbor Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
As a senior DeMartine batted .306 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI and ranked third on the team in both home runs and RBI. During her career DeMartine appeared in 207 games with 133 hits, 20 home runs and 90 RBI. Prior to UK, DeMartine was a five-time All-State selection in New York playing for Marlboro Central. She was a 2010 All-SEC Academic team selection. During her four years UK posted 30+ wins three times and had an overall record of 123-103.
DeMartine also serves as a Luce Building supervisor here at Asbury. She resides in Lexington.
