Lauren Heffelbower is entering her third year as an assistant with the men and women’s swimming programs. Lauren competed for three years at Valparaiso University, an NCAA Division I program, in Valparaiso, Ind. As an athlete, Lauren specialized in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke, 100 and 200 yard freestyle and the 200 yard IM. As a freshmen and junior, she placed in the Top-8 at the Mid-Continent Conference Championships in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. As a freshman, she was selected to the All Mid-Continent Conference Second Team. She was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Academic Team as a sophomore and junior and received the team’s Mental Attitude Award both years. During her junior and senior years, Lauren was president of Valparaiso’s Campus Crusade. Lauren still holds Top 10 times for the program in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke.
In the classroom, Lauren received a B.S. in Elementary Education and graduated in 2006. During the span of 2006-2012, she taught second, third and fourth grade students in Clarksville, Tenn. and Lexington, Ky.
Over the past five years, Lauren has been on the coaching staff for a local age-group swim team, Wilmore Aquatics Club. She is involved in her local church and is excited about joining the coaching staff for Asbury Swimming. Lauren and her husband, Neil, reside in Nicholasville with their two daughters, Grace and Claire.
