Matt McCurry

The Asbury University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has announced the hiring of Matt McCurry as the new men's and women's Head Golf Coach effective immediately.

McCurry, a 2018 Asbury graduate, was a standout golfer for the AU men's team and was named 2018 River States Conference Player of the Year. The Houston, Texas, native was a three-time All-Conference selection, while posting two tournament victories during his career and one tied for first. Additionally, McCurry earned an impressive 13 top five finishes. One of the state's top amateur players, he recently won the Daniel Boone Invitational and tied for fifth in the 2019 Kentucky Amateur Championship.

"Becoming a head coach is a blessing and I can't wait for the season to get started. This is an amazing opportunity for my wife and me to get plugged back into Asbury athletics after graduating. Being a former student-athlete, I know the significant impact a coach can make on a player on and off the course. I hope to build on those aspects that were provided for me and expand on them, said McCurry.

Both teams are very talented and have the potential to win the conference championship. We have shown steady improvement in the last few years. I believe we can be the leading program in our conference while showing others what it means to be followers of Christ."
