Taylor Valentine

In 2018, Taylor Valentine enters his third year as an Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at Asbury University.  He adds a special touch to the program by coaching every day in all factors of our players’ lives. Taylor sets the bar high in bringing an unparalleled level of energy and passion for the game, extensively working with the Eagles infielders and hitters.

In 2017, Valentine excelled in his recruiting coordinator position.  With an eye for quality student athletes AU added one of the largest recruiting classes with 20 young stars and transfers to the Eagles roster for the new season.  Valentine coached six Asbury hitters to a .300+ batting average and 10 Asbury players to a .900+ fielding percentage.

Valentine coached River States All-Conference selection middle infielder Colton Back, River States Champions of Character Matt Cohick and Lexington Clinic Citizen Athlete of the Year Christian Beckley.

“Taylor shows a strong commitment to the team.   He has demonstrated the ability to recruit and mentor the type student-athletes who are essential to the success of our program.”  Head Coach Manny Cervantes said.  “Initiative and persistence are strong traits Taylor possesses, which became evident as he collected our scouting reports through the season.”

In 2016, Valentine focused on scouting and developing the Eagles infield play which contributed to a .942 team fielding percentage and 14 future Eagles.  Valentine coached All-Conference selection Andrew Moran and All-Conference Come Back Player of the Year Joey Johnson.  Asbury recorded wins over top-25 foe Rio Grande and swept a four-game series for the first time since 2008 against Cincinnati Christian University.

Valentine was selected as Head Coach for the Game Day USA All-Star Tournament Series having four players selected.  He has also led operational efforts for one of Baseball Factory’s largest identification events at Pirate City, Fla. along with National Tryouts in Ohio and Kentucky. Valentine is an ABCA member.

Valentine was a middle-infield impact player at Asbury from 2013-2014 after transferring from Milligan College where he pllayed 2011-2012. 

A Cincinnati, Ohio native and 2010 graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, Valentine was a two-sport athlete, playing baseball and football.  Baseball Head Coach Bob Sherlock selected Valentine as a Team Captain and he received Greater Catholic League All-Conference Honors and the Robert J. Bowman Baseball Leadership Award.

Coach Valentine earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Asbury University in 2014 and is currently completing his Master’s Degree in Sports Management at Liberty University.
