WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury women's soccer team (2-0-1, 0-0 CCS) controlled much of the action against Spalding University (2-1-1, 0-0 SLIAC), but neither side could find the back of the net as the teams played to a 0-0 draw.
Asbury carried the play for long stretches, outshooting Spalding 13-4 and holding a 7-4 edge in corner kicks. The Eagles turned up the pressure after halftime, firing 11 second-half shots while limiting Spalding to none over the final 45 minutes.
Several of Asbury's best chances came in the second half, including saved efforts from Anna Sparks, Lauren Davis, Kaylynn Crump, and Maggie Perry.
Defensively, the Eagles were equally strong. Goalkeeper Peyton Steiniger made two first-half saves and earned her shutout as Asbury's back line kept Spalding without a shot in the second half.
Maggie Perry, Anna Sparks, Macy Scott, and Kaylynn Crump each recorded two shots to lead the Asbury attack, while Perry, Scott, Sparks, Davis, and Crump each put a shot on goal.
