Eagles Suffer Road Loss at Ohio Wesleyan, 1-0

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
 DELAWARE, OHIO --- The Asbury women's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 CCS) dropped its first match of the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Ohio Wesleyan (1-2-2, 0-0 NCAC).

After a scoreless opening 42 minutes, Ohio Wesleyan broke through scoring the match's lone goal at the 42:03 mark of the first half. 

Asbury generated 10 shots and six corner kicks while applying pressure throughout the match. Emily Carpenter led the Eagles with three shots, while Lauren Davis, Molly Spalding, and Julia Baker each recorded two shots. Four of Asbury's attempts were on target. 

In goal, Peyton Steiniger turned in a strong performance, making four saves and keeping the Eagles within striking distance throughout the second half.

Ohio Wesleyan outshot Asbury 18-10 and held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.

The Eagles nearly found an equalizer late in the match. Shots from Molly Spalding, Emily Carpenter, and Lauren Davis helped create opportunities down the stretch, but Ohio Wesleyan's defense secured the shutout.
