WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury women's soccer team (3-1-1, 0-0 CCS) erased a halftime deficit with two second-half goals from senior captain
Anna Sparks to earn a 2-1 victory over Transylvania (2-2-1, 0-0 CCS).
Transylvania struck first in the 28th minute when Eva Blanke found the back of the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead at the break.
The Eagles responded quickly after halftime. Just 43 seconds into the second half, Anna Sparks scored the equalizer off an assist from Emily Carpenter, pulling Asbury level at 1-1.
Sparks delivered again in the 61st minute, finishing a chance created by Milei Baker to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage that would stand as the game-winning goal.
Asbury outshot Transylvania 11-8 and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks. Sparks led the Eagles with two goals on four shots, while Baker and Carpenter each recorded an assist.
In goal, Peyton Steiniger made two saves to secure the win for Asbury. For Transylvania, goalkeeper Chandler Worth recorded five saves.
