Eagles Fall Twice in CCS Tournament; End Their 2026 Season

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

PEARL, Miss. — Asbury (14-28, 7-11 CCS) dropped two games on Thursday afternoon to conclude their 2026 season at the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Tournament, falling to No. 1 Piedmont (27-13, 12-6 CCS) 3-2 and to No. 2 Belhaven (29-12, 12-6 CCS) 17-1.

Game One | PIEDMONT  3, ASBURY 2
The Eagles struck first in the top of the third inning. Edison Burke reached and advanced into scoring position, allowing Hank Burns to drive him in with an RBI groundout to give Asbury a 1–0 lead. However, Piedmont answered quickly in the bottom half, using a two-run single down the right field line to take a 2–1 advantage.

Piedmont added what proved to be the decisive run in the fifth inning, capitalizing to extend the lead to 3–1.

Asbury continued to battle and cut the deficit to one in the eighth inning. Burke once again sparked the offense, and Aaron Beaman delivered with an RBI single through the left side to make it 3–2. The Eagles threatened late, but couldn't find the equalizer.

Ryan Yates delivered for the Eagles, tossing 7.2 innings while allowing just three runs (two earned) on 12 hits, with four strikeouts. He worked out of multiple jams to keep Asbury within striking distance throughout the game.

Offensively, Burke led the Eagles with a 2-for-3 day and a run scored, while Burns and Beaman each recorded an RBI. Asbury managed six hits but was limited by 12 strikeouts and did not draw a walk against Piedmont's pitching.

Andrew Misirly earned the win for Piedmont after striking out 11 over eight innings, and Luke Manry secured the save.

Game Two | BELHAVEN 17, ASBURY 1
The Eagles held firm early, keeping the game scoreless through the first two innings before Belhaven broke through in the third with an RBI groundout to take a 1–0 lead. The game turned decisively in the fourth inning, as Belhaven plated six runs on a series of timely hits to extend its advantage.

Belhaven continued to build momentum in the fifth, erupting for eight more runs to create separation.

Asbury found its lone run in the sixth inning. Andrew Billington reached and later scored on a wild pitch, with Aaron Beaman and Cam Weaver also advancing on the play to account for the Eagles' only tally.

Offensively, Asbury was limited to four hits but showed patience at the plate with six walks. Billington led the way with a hit and a run scored, while Beaman and CJ Hussey each contributed a base knock. Aiden Masters added a pinch-hit single as well.

Cayden Devine got the start and took the loss, working into the fourth inning. The Eagles utilized multiple arms out of the bullpen as they attempted to navigate Belhaven's lineup.

Belhaven finished with 17 runs on 17 hits, capitalizing on key opportunities throughout the middle innings to secure the win.
