WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury baseball (11-18, 6-5 CCS) dropped the game two conference matchup to Piedmont (19-9, 6-2 CCS), 13-2, on Friday afternoon at Cecil Zweifel Field.
Asbury struck first in the opening inning, answering a lead-off home run from Piedmont with an RBI single from CJ Hussey that plated Andrew Billington and tied the game at 1-1.
The Lions quickly seized control in the second inning, erupting for nine runs on a flurry of extra-base hits. Multiple doubles and a three-run home run highlighted the frame as Piedmont built a commanding 10-1 advantage.
Piedmont continued to add on with single runs in the third, fourth, and sixth innings, extending the lead to 13-1 before the Eagles found their final run in the fourth. Edison Burke delivered an RBI single to score Avery Hare, accounting for Asbury's second run of the day.
Burke led the Eagles offensively with three hits, while Hussey added two hits and an RBI. Hank Burns and Cam Weaver also contributed base knocks as Asbury totaled seven hits.
On the mound, Cayden Devine started his ninth game. The Eagles used five pitchers in relief, with Wesley Stewart and Baylor Hair combining for three innings while allowing just one run down the stretch.
Piedmont was powered by an 18-hit performance, including three hits and three RBIs from Cole Ellis and a three-run homer from Jack Ryan.

The Eagles and Lions square off for the rubber match tomorow at 11 AM in Wilmore, Ky.
