Asbury Edged in CCS Doubleheader at LaGrange

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

LAGRANGE, GA. --- The Asbury softball team (15-17, 5-7 CCS) dropped a Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) doubleheader at LaGrange College (14-20, 9-5 CCS) on Saturday, falling 6-5, 6-3.

Game One | LAGRANGE 6, ASBURY 5

Asbury opened the day by striking first in the top of the first inning before LaGrange answered with a run in the bottom of the second to even the score.

The Panthers took control in the fifth, plating four runs to build a 5-1 advantage. The Eagles responded with a four-run rally in the top of the seventh, cutting the deficit even at 5-5.

Moira Tinsley sparked the comeback effort with two doubles and an RBI, while Daegan Flamm added two hits and a run scored. Sidney Hansen also contributed a hit and run after entering in relief.

LaGrange answered in the bottom of the seventh with the winning run to claim the opener, 6-5.

Game Two | LAGRANGE 6, ASBURY 3

The Eagles again battled throughout the second game after falling behind 4-0 in the second inning.

Asbury chipped away with a run in the third before scoring twice in the fourth to trim the deficit to 4-3. Abigail Moffat delivered a triple and RBI, while Elyanna Rogers drove in a run and Moira Tinsley continued her strong day with three hits and an RBI.

LaGrange added two insurance runs in the sixth inning and held the Eagles scoreless over the final three frames to complete the sweep.

Josie Potter tossed a complete game in the circle for Asbury in game two.

The Eagles will host CCS opponent Maryville College on Tuesday, April in Wilmore, Ky., first pitch is set for 2 PM.
