Eagles Slip in Final Home CCS Doubleheader to Maryville

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury softball team (15-19, 5-9 CCS) slipped in a Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) doubleheader to Maryville College (24-14, 9-5 CCS) 11-1, 7-0.

Game One | MARYVILLE 11, ASBURY 1

The Scots came out fast, scoring six runs in the first inning before adding two in the second and one in the third, and two more runs in the fourth.

AU scored its lone run in the third inning when Elyanna Rogers singled and later came home on a Daegan Flamm RBI double. The Eagles totaled seven hits in the contest.

Abigail Moffat collected two hits, while Rogers added two hits and a stolen base. Emily Zink, Elizabeth McIntyre, and Flamm also recorded hits.

Elizabeth McIntyre made the start in the circle, while Josie Potter and Abi Thompson also saw action. Thompson finished with three strikeouts in relief.

Game Two | MARYVILLE 7, ASBURY 0

Maryville struck early with three runs in the opening inning and added two more in the second to seize momentum. The Scots added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh while holding the Eagles to one hit in the shutout victory.

Danielle Spiegel recorded Asbury's lone hit of the game. Abigail Moffat and Emily Zink each reached base with walks. Sidney Hansen went six innings in the circle for the Eagles.

The Eagles will travel to Belhaven University on Friday, April 24 in Jackson, Miss., first pitch is set for 12 PM CST / 1 PM CST to close out the regular season.
