Eagles Come Up Short at Huntingdon; Tinsley Homers in Game One

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury softball team (15-15, 5-5 CCS) came up short in a doubleheader against Huntingdon College (27-6, 11-3 CCS), 9-1, 9-1.

Game One | HUNTINGDON 9, ASBURY 1

Huntingdon struck early with two runs in the opening inning and maintained control throughout, using a five-run fifth inning to break the game open.

Asbury was limited offensively for much of the contest but broke through in the sixth inning. Moira Tinsley provided the highlight for the Eagles, launching a solo home run to account for the team's lone run.

Tinsley led the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-3 with the homer and an RBI. Abigail Moffat, Emily Zink, Danielle Spiegel, and Tor Giurgevich each added a hit as Asbury finished with six total.

Sidney Hansen in the circle, tossing 4.1 innings with two strikeouts. Spiegel appeared in relief, working the final inning.

Game Two | HUNTINGDON 9, ASBURY 1

The Hawks once again jumped ahead early, scoring two runs in the first and adding three more in the second to take control. A four-run fourth inning pushed the lead to nine and secured the run-rule victory.

Asbury's lone run came in the second inning, with Kaylee Korros driving in a run despite the Eagles being held without a hit in the game.

Moira Tinsley reached base and scored the Eagles' only run, while Asbury drew three walks but could not generate further offense.
 
Abi Thompson started in the circle, while Elizabeth McIntyre recorded the final out in relief.

The Eagles will travel to LaGrange College for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 in LaGrange, Ga., first pitch is set for 12 PM
