STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

CINCINNATI, Oh. ---  Asbury baseball  (13-21, 7-8 CCS) earned a hard-fought extra-inning victory over Mount St. Joseph (10-17, 5-8 HCAC) on Tuesday evening, pulling away late for an 8-6 win propelled by Aaron Beaman and Avery Hare's combined six hits.

Asbury struck first after falling behind 1-0 in the opening inning, responding in the third when Aaron Beaman delivered a two-RBI double to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. The Eagles continued to build momentum with a sacrifice fly from Hank Burns in the fifth and an RBI double from Avery Hare in the sixth to extend the advantage to 4-1.

Mount St. Joseph chipped away, scoring in the sixth and adding runs in the eighth and ninth innings to tie the game at 5-5 and force extra innings.

In the 10th, Asbury delivered the decisive blow. Avery Hare came through with a clutch two-RBI single to give the Eagles the lead, and Andrew Billington followed with a sacrifice fly to push the margin to 8-5. The Lions answered with a run in the bottom half, but Levi Kelly closed the door to secure his first collegiate victory.

Hare led the Eagles offensively with a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, including the go-ahead hit in extras.

Beaman also had a strong day at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Hank Burns added two hits and an RBI.

On the mound, Asbury used a committee approach, with Levi Kelly earning the win after tossing two innings and allowing just one unearned run while striking out two. Drew Dugger provided a solid start, allowing one run over four innings.

Asbury totaled 12 hits in the contest and showed resilience late, responding after surrendering a ninth-inning lead to secure the extra-inning win.
