Asbury Tallies 24 Hits in Doubleheader Sweep of Agnes Scott on Senior Day

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury softball team (15-13, 5-3 CCS) celebrated senior day on Friday afternoon, sweeping Agnes Scott (3-13, 2-10 CCS) in a doubleheader with 9-0 and 13-5 victories.

Game One | ASBURY 9, AGNES SCOTT 0

The Eagles set the tone early and never looked back, using a balanced offensive attack and a dominant performance in the circle to secure a run-rule victory in game one.

Asbury struck first with two runs in the opening inning and continued to apply pressure, adding one run in the second and breaking the game open with a four-run third inning. The Eagles tacked on two more runs in the fourth to seal the 9-0 win.

The offense was led by Abigail Moffat, who went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored. Emma Popplewell and Emily Zink each added two hits and an RBI, while Samantha Bottom contributed a two-hit performance with a double and an RBI.

In the circle, Danielle Spiegel was outstanding, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just two hits while striking out six and walking two, earning her third win of the season.

Game Two | ASBURY 13, AGNES SCOTT 5

The Eagles carried their momentum into game two, exploding offensively to complete the sweep.

After Agnes Scott plated a run in the first, Asbury answered immediately with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Eagles added another in the second before delivering the decisive blow in the third, erupting for nine runs to take full control of the game.

Moira Tinsley led the offensive outburst with a huge performance, going 3-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs. Daegan Flamm added three hits and two RBIs, while Elyanna Rogers recorded two hits, including two triples, and drove in two runs. Emily Zink also contributed with two hits and an RBI.

In the circle, Josie Potter earned the win, allowing two runs over four innings while striking out one. Amanda Harmon came on in relief to close out the game.
