STORY - THE ESSENTIALS

SEWANEE, Tenn. --- Asbury baseball (5-10, 0-0 CCS) was downed in a Saturday doubleheader to Sewanee (8-4-1, 0-0 SAA) 9-5 and 19-3.

Game One | SEWANEE 9, ASBURY 5
Asbury struck first in the opening inning when Cam Weaver drove a single up the middle to score Andrew Billington, giving the Eagles an early 1–0 lead. Sewanee answered immediately in the bottom half with a pair of RBI singles to take a 2–1 advantage.

The Eagles responded in the second. With the bases loaded, Edison Burke drew an RBI walk to tie the game before Ben Krza scored on a double-play ball to put Asbury back in front 3–2.
Sewanee regained momentum in the middle innings, highlighted by a two-run homer from Zach Fortman in the fourth and a solo home run from Aidan Petrocco in the fifth that pushed the Tigers ahead 5–3.

Asbury battled back in the sixth inning. Aaron Beaman delivered an RBI single to cut the deficit to one, and Josh McNulty followed with a sacrifice fly to even the score at 5–5.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh when Sewanee broke through with four runs. The Tigers delivered the decisive blow with a three-run triple before scoring on an RBI single to extend the lead to 9–5.

On the mound, Ryan Yates turned in a solid start, working six innings with five strikeouts while allowing five runs. Levi Kelly added a scoreless frame in relief.

Game Two | SEWANEE 19, ASBURY 3
Sewanee jumped on top with a nine-run outburst in the bottom of the first, sparked by an early double that helped set the tone for the inning. The Tigers kept pressure on with contributions up and down the order to build a 9-0 lead after one.

Asbury broke through in the second inning to get on the board and avoid the shutout, and the Eagles continued to chip for single runs in the third and fifth to reach three runs on the afternoon. Asbury finished with five hits, including two home runs, and drew two walks while leaving six runners on base.

Sewanee created further separation with a six-run second inning, highlighted by a four-run home run that pushed the lead to 15-2. The Tigers tacked on four more runs after one more AU run late to take a 19-3 win.

Offensively, the Eagles' most consistent production came from Hayden Fisher, who recorded two of Asbury's five hits and drove in a run with a single to center in the third inning.
