POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. — The Asbury women's basketball team (15-16, 11-5 CCS) saw its 2025-26 season come to a close Friday at the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) National Tournament, falling 85-79 in double overtime of the seventh place game to Houghton (23-8, 11-5) as
Emily Sizemore surpassed 1,000 career points.
The elementary education major and junior from London, Ky., finishes the season with 621 total points, which is the second most in a single season in program history (Trenia Barbee '12-'13 scored 765).
Sizemore delivered the standout performance for the Eagles, pouring in a game-high 32 points on 13-of-25 shooting while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Ma'Kiya West also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Trinity Britton chipped in 11 points. Anna Hellums added nine points, including three three-pointers.
After a slow start offensively, Asbury found its rhythm in the third quarter, shooting 53.8 percent from the field and four-of-six from beyond the arc to stay within striking distance. The Eagles tightened things defensively in the fourth quarter, holding Houghton to just one field goal, rallying to force overtime in a back-and-forth finish.
In the first overtime, Asbury shot an efficient four-of-six from the field but struggled at the line, going just two-of-seven, leaving the door open for Houghton to extend the game. In the second overtime, the Eagles went cold from beyond the arc (0-for-six), while Houghton converted seven-of-eight free throws to pull away.
Asbury finished the game shooting 37.2 percent from the field and 21.6 percent from three, while Houghton shot 37.5 percent overall but held the edge from the free throw line, converting 21-of-32 attempts compared to Asbury's 13-of-24.
Despite forcing 20 points off turnovers and winning the paint battle 28-18, the Eagles were unable to gain control.
AU ends the 2025-26 campaign with a 15-16 record and an 11-5 record in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS).
