DANVILLE, Ky. --- The Asbury women's tennis team (2-3, 0-0 CCS) dropped their midweek match to Centre College (2-1, 0-1 SAA) 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles were unable to secure the doubles point, dropping decisions at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. At the No. 2 spot, Alexandra Garcia and Malory Watkins fell 6-1, while MaryAlice McVey and Isabella Sanchez dropped the match at No. 3.
In singles play, Asbury picked up two strong victories. At the top of the lineup, Katherine Nova delivered an impressive straight-sets win, defeating Grace Williams 6-3, 6-1 in a commanding performance.
Alexandra Garcia followed with a gritty effort at No. 3 singles, edging Carlie Mitchell in a tight first-set tiebreak before closing out the match 7-6, 6-4.
Ariadna Zegarra pushed her opponent to three sets at No. 2 singles, taking the opening frame 6-4 before ultimately falling 1-6, 3-6 in a hard-fought battle.
Malory Watkins also forced a third set at No. 4 after winning the first set 6-3 but came up short 2-6, 1-6.

The women set their sights on Fri., March 6th when they travel to take on Huntingdon in their first CCS match of the year at 5 PM EST.
