WESTERVILLE, OH. --- The Asbury men's tennis (2-0, 0-0 CCS) and women's tennis teams (1-0, 0-0 CCS) both took victories 5-2 over Otterbein College on Friday afternoon in Westerville, Oh.

AU set the tone early by securing two of the three doubles points. Ignacio Ardiles and Franco Patino picked up a convincing 6–2 win at No. 1 doubles, while Antonio Nunez and Victor Pereira followed with a 6–3 victory at No. 3 to give the Eagles a 2–1 edge heading into singles.
Asbury carried that momentum into singles competition, claiming three straight-set wins to clinch the match. Ben Moore delivered a gritty performance at No. 1 singles, battling through a three-set contest to defeat Max Fickas 6–3, 3–6, 10–6 in the super tiebreak.

The Eagles set the tone early by claiming all three doubles courts. At No. 1, the tandem of Katherine Nova and Alexandra Garcia secured a 6–3 win to put Asbury on the board. Ariadna Zegarra and Malory Watkins followed with a solid 6–4 victory at No. 2.
In singles, the Eagles continued to control the match from the top of the lineup. Alexandra Garcia added another point at No. 3 with a steady 6–4, 6–3 performance.
The most dramatic match of the day came at No. 4, where Watkins rebounded after dropping the first set. She battled back to take the second set 6–4 and then edged her opponent 11–9 in a tightly contested match tiebreak to clinch her point and secure the overall team victory for Asbury.

"Today we played in what I think most of us would consider tough conditions in a court surface we were not really prepared to play on. We handled it and proved that playing on the road is something that we handle well. Everyone is looking forward to a tough match tomorrow with ONU, knowing we will need to be much better tomorrow than we were today."
