Five in Double Figures Lead Eagles to 103–72 Win Over Belhaven

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky. ---  The Asbury women's basketball team (11-10, 9-3 CCS) had five in double figures to lead them to a win over Belhaven University (15-5, 8-4 CCS), 103-72, Thursday night.

AU shot an efficient 56.2 percent from the field and knocked down 15 three-pointers, placing five players in double figures while forcing 23 Belhaven turnovers. The Eagles also turned defense into offense, scoring 34 points off turnovers and adding 22 fast-break points in the 31-point victory.

Asbury wasted little time setting the tone. the Eagles connected on six first-quarter three-pointers and jumped out to a 33–19 lead after the opening period. The momentum carried into the second quarter as the Eagles shot 68.8 percent from the floor, extending the advantage to 60–44 at halftime.

The Eagles continued to apply pressure in the third quarter, outscoring Belhaven 26–13 to push the lead beyond 25 points. The Eagles shot nearly 58 percent in the period and maintained control on both ends of the floor.

AU finished with a 48–34 advantage in points in the paint and narrowly edged Belhaven on the glass, 28–27. 

Junior biology pre-dental major Trinity Britton led the way with a career-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers. Morgan Flannery followed with a career-high 16 points while shooting 7-of-9 from the field and adding three steals.

Emily Sizemore contributed 14 points and four rebounds, while Ma'Kiya West added 13 points and six boards. Camryn Poole rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, five rebounds, and a team-high four assists.

The bench provided a strong boost as well, contributing 32 points. Anna Hellums scored nine points on three three-pointers, and Bre Jones added eight points and four rebounds. In total, 11 Eagles found the scoring column in the win.
