HUNTSVILLE, Ala. --- The Asbury women's soccer team (10-6-1, 4-2 CCS) concluded their 2026 season coming up short to Belhaven University (6-4-5, 4-1-2 CCS), in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the CCS Semifinals.

Belhaven seized the early momentum with goals in the fourth minute and in the 20th minute to claim a 2-0 advantage. The Eagles answered just before halftime when Maggie Perry connected on an assist from Lauren Davis in the 45th minute, sending Asbury into the break trailing by just one goal.

Asbury continued to push forward in the second half and found the equalizer in the 64th minute. Perry struck again, finishing a setup from Anna Sparks and Davis to level the match at 2-2 and complete the Eagles' comeback effort.

The Eagles controlled much of the action throughout the evening, holding a commanding 24-8 advantage in shots and earning 14 corner kicks. Perry led the offensive attack with two goals on seven shots, while Davis recorded two assists.

In goal, Peyton Steiniger made four saves and helped hold the Blazers scoreless for more than 90 minutes after their second goal.

Neither side could find a breakthrough during two overtime periods despite several quality scoring opportunities for the Eagles, forcing the match to penalties. Belhaven converted its first four attempts, while Davis scored Asbury's lone penalty kick.
