Sizemore and West Combine for 41 in, 89-49, Win Over Covenant

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. ---  Juniors Emily Sizemore and Ma'Kiya West combined for 41 points in Asbury women's basketball team (9-9, 7-2 CCS), 89-49, win over Covenant College (5-14, 4-6 CCS) on Friday night.

The Eagles built a double-digit lead by the end of the first quarter and turned the game into a runaway in the second, outscoring Covenant 25-15 to take a 43-23 halftime advantage. Asbury put the game fully out of reach with a 19-10 third quarter and steadily extended the margin with a 27-point fourth, outscoring Covenant in every period.

AU's defense set the tone throughout, forcing 31 turnovers and converting them into transition opportunities. The Eagles racked up 20 steals by repeatedly jumping passing lanes, while Covenant was held to just 12-of-54 shooting from the floor (22.2 percent) and eight points in the paint.

On the offensive end, Asbury's balance and perimeter shooting carried the night. The Eagles shot 34-of-81 overall and 15-of-39 from three-point range while assisting on 23 made field goals. AU also controlled the glass with a 45-43 rebounding edge, including 16 offensive boards, helping generate 36 points in the paint and 17 fast-break points. The bench added 35 points to sustain the pressure in every quarter.

Sizemore led all scorers with an efficient 24-point performance, going 9-of-12 from the field and 4-of-5 from beyond the arc while adding five rebounds. Her first-half scoring flurry helped break the game open. West provided a strong interior presence with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and four offensive boards.

Bre Jones added six points and six rebounds for the Eagles, and AU's depth allowed the team to maintain its tempo on both ends of the floor.

STORY - QUOTE
"It was good to get a bounce back win today. We didn't play well at all yesterday. All facets of the game broke down, so today I challenged them with one thing, and that was to get back to playing our style of defense. I felt like from the start we had tremendous energy and played extremely hard."
