DECATUR, Ga. --- The Asbury women's basketball (5-7, 3-0 CCS) used a string defensive performance for a 82-27 victory over Agnes Scott College (1-11, 0-3 CCS) on Saturday afternoon.
From the opening tip, AU set the tone. The Eagles forced 32 turnovers and converted it to 38 points, while controlling the glass 58–29. An early 27–6 first-quarter advantage gave AU a lead.
Junior elementary education major Emily Sizemore led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals, while freshman Anna Hellums added 12 points and five rebounds. The Eagles showcased balanced scoring, with 10 players contributing to the total, highlighted by Bre Jones, who went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including 3-for-3 from three-point range.
The Eagles' depth was on full display, as their bench outscored Agnes Scott 35–6 and helped AU push the pace for easy transition points. Trinity Britton chipped in nine points, and Juleigh Anne Tucker added nine, all from three-point range.
Asbury maintained pressure throughout the game, holding the Scotties to just 19.1 percent shooting and limiting their scoring opportunities inside the paint. Fast-break points and quick ball movement kept the Eagles comfortably in control in every quarter.
"We were able to come out early, make shots and our defense was a lot better today. I really challenged them to give me the effort I thought we were lacking in yesterday's win. We are always thankful for a win, but we also feel like we can get better in any situation we find ourselves in."
