WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury women's basketball (6-7, 4-0 CCS) used a decisive third quarter to pull away afor a 68-50 win over Covenant College (1-11, 0-3 CCS) on Tuesday night in Wilmore, Ky.
The opening half featured nine lead changes as both teams traded baskets. The Eagles held a 19–14 edge after one quarter, but the Scots responded in the second to take a brief lead before the Eagles went into halftime up 32–31.
The Eagles led by just one at the break before clamping down defensively after halftime, outscoring Covenant 17–5 in the third quarter to seize control. AU shot 43.8% from the field in the period while holding the Scots to 2-of-17 shooting.
AU continued to build momentum in the fourth quarter, extending the lead to as many as 18 behind balanced scoring and strong work on the glass. The Eagles finished with a 47–33 rebounding advantage and scored 21 points off turnovers.
The Eagles won the turnover battle, committing 20 giveaways while Covenant had 22 turnovers. AU outrebounded the Scots, 47-33, with the Eagles having 16 offensive boards apiece. Covenant went 4-28 from three and 10-15 from the free-throw line, compared to Asbury at 5-23 from three and 9-14 from the stripe.
Junior elementary education major Emily Sizemore led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting, adding six rebounds and a season-high six steals. Camryn Poole chipped in 10 points, eight rebounds, and four assists, while Bre Jones provided a spark off the bench with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting.

"It felt good to get back home and play a game here at the Luce. It was also nice to get a win at home after playing several road games in a row. Covenant did a good job of forcing us out of what we normally do in the first half, but once we settled down in the second half, I thought we played a lot better and got back to doing the things that have made us successful these last few games."
