WILMORE, Ky. — Asbury men's basketball (3-15, 1-4 CCS) battled hard in front of a home crowd Tuesday evening but couldn't keep pace with Boyce College (7-12), falling 81-64 inside the Luce Center in the ninth Annual Ray Shouse Memorial Game.
Asbury was led offensively by junior finance major Jonathan Combs, who finished with 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting, added seven rebounds and battled inside throughout the contest.
Junior business administration major Jordan Lewis scored 10 points while handing out four assists, and Indred Whitaker contributed 10 points off the bench. Konlin Brown added eight points and knocked down multiple threes, while Scott Shepherd and Cam Jones chipped in four points apiece.
Despite the Eagles' fight, Boyce's offense proved too much to contain. Andrew Thomas led all scorers with 27 points on efficient shooting, while Josh Sangalli added 20 points and six rebounds in the win.
Ben Cox scored 12 points and helped anchor Boyce's scoring depth, while Luke Bee added ten points off the bench in the effort.
Asbury competed across the stat sheet but was unable to overcome Boyce's efficiency, particularly in the second half. The Eagles finished the night shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from three-point range, while converting 13-of-16 attempts at the free-throw line. AU moved the ball well offensively, getting contributions throughout the lineup, including 25 points from the bench.
Boyce shot 48.3 percent overall and knocked down timely perimeter shots, while also holding a rebounding edge 34-26 and capitalizing on second-chance opportunities to extend the margin late.
