SPRINGFIELD, Ohio.--- The Asbury women's soccer team (2-1-1, 0-0 CCS) dropped its first match of the season on Saturday night, falling 4-2 at Wittenberg University (1-1-2, 0-0 NCAC) in Springfield, Ohio.
Wittenberg scored in the sixth minute to take an early lead and added another in the 57th minute, both scored by Sarah Deaton, with one assisted by Ashley Green.
Asbury answered quickly when senior captain biology major
Hannah Muncie scored in the 63rd minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. The goal was Muncie's third on the season already and 19th in her career.Â
Wittenberg added goals in the 71st and 76th minutes, scored by Sarah Deaton and Caroline Stupp, assisted by Reagan Williams. Junior biology major
Anna Sparks scored in the 85th minute to close out the match with her ninth career goal, drawing AU within two at 4-2.Â

Peyton Steiniger recorded eight saves while playing all 90 minutes for the Eagles. The four goals conceded by Asbury marks the first opponent points of the season after the Eagles shut out their first three matchups.Â
Asbury finished with eight total shots, including four on goal, and earned five corner kicks. Wittenberg finished with 22 shots, 12 on goal, and 15 corner kicks.
There were two yellow cards given in the match : Wittenberg, Courtney Lindgren in the 26th minute, and Asbury,
Lauren Davis in the 51st minute.Â
