Asbury Records Fourth Shutout in 5-0 Win Over Berea

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury women's soccer team (3-1-1, 0-0 CCS) soared to a 5-0 shutout over Berea College (3-2, 0-0 HCAC) on Wednesday night in Wilmore, Ky.

The Eagles controlled the pace from the very beginning, striking first in the eighth minute when senior captain Hannah Muncie buried a goal to AU the early lead. The goal was Muncie's fourth on the year and 20th in her career.

Sophomore media communications major Eva De Sousa doubled the lead before halftime, scoring a goal in the 28th minute off a pass from freshman Ryan King

Asbury carried the momentum into the second half, just two minutes after halftime, junior captain Anna Sparks connected on a goal assisted by freshman art & design major Macy Scott. Sparks then set up junior business administration major Payton Ardery in the 60th minute, to go up 4-0.

De Souza capped off the night with her second goal of the night in the 84th minute, assisted by junior exercise science major Maggie Perry, closing out the 5-0 win.

The Eagles outshot Berea 22 to six, including a 13 to one advantage in shots on goal. AU's goalkeepers, sophomore Peyton Steiniger and junior Sheridan Harrison, combined for the shutout, facing just one shot on target across 90 minutes.

Asbury now has four shutouts on their record for the 2025 season, and no goals allowed on their home pitch.

There was only one card in the match, a yellow given to junior Anna Sparks in the 17th minute.
