MACON, Ga.--- The Asbury women's soccer (5-3-2, 2-0 CCS) secured a 5-0 win Wesleyan College (1-8, 0-2 CCS) on Saturday afternoon in Macon Ga., as freshman psychology major
Abigail Turner scored her first two goals of her collegiate career to lead the Eagles to their second straight conference victory.
AU's offense was led by sophomore psychology major
Emily Carpenter scoring two goals within a minute of each other. Carpenter's first goals came in the 30th minute off an assist from freshman
Macy Scott, and she added her second just 45 seconds later, this time assisted by freshman
Ryan King, to give the Eagles a quick 2-0.Â
Turner then scored her first of the match in the 42nd minute, sending Asbury into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
The Eagles continued to progress in the second half, where Turner struck again in the 64th minute for her second goal of the match. Freshman
Gabriella Albornoz capped the scoring in the 75th minute, making it 5-0 to secure the win for AU.
Junior goalkeeper
Anna Sparks recorded one save in her debut start at the position, earning the first clean sheet of her career.Â
AU led in total shots over Wesleyan, 33-2, and also in shots on goal, 20-1. Wesleyan's goalkeeper Brooke Hankinson recorded 15 saves.Â
