Eagles Sweep CCS Tri-Match; Beat Wesleyan and LaGrange to Open Conference Play

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury volleyball team (6-6, 2-0 CCS) won both its home Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) matches in Wilmore, Ky., on Saturday to start conference play undefeated, beating Wesleyan College (1-5, 1-2), 3-0, and LaGrange College (5-13, 3-1), 3-2. 

Asbury had 94 kills combined in the two matches with only 35 hitting errors. In addition, AU had 76 assists, 18 aces, and eight blocks. 

Sophomore equine science major Isabelle VandeSchraaf led the Eagles with 24 kills, followed by sophomore accounting major Sophie Glushchak with 15 kills. Senior captain Riley McChord had 23 digs, alongside Lucy Kate Gray, dishing 37 assists and serving five aces.

Game One | ASBURY 3, WESLEYAN 0
The Eagles took the first three sets of the match against Wesleyan (25-5, 25-8, 25-13). AU had their highest hitting percentage of the season at .343. 

McKenna Rumage had 10 kills in the match, while Lauren Barber and Arianna Bluestein each had 11 digs. 

Game Two | ASBURY 3, LAGRANGE 2
Asbury went to five sets for the second time in the week on their home court, coming from behind after LaGrange took the first set of the match, 25-22. AU took two sets in a row, 25-20 and 25-13, before LaGrange took a 25-21 win to push the match to a fifth and final set. 

AU won the final set, 15-9, after trailing 8-6 in the set. The Eagles had seven total blocks in the match, led by Glushchak with three and Bruner at two blocks. 

Asbury has now won their last six regular- season CCS matches, dating back to the 2024 Regular Season Championship season.
