WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury volleyball team (4-6, 0-0 CCS) was led by sophomore equine science major Isabelle Vandeschraaf's school-record 32 kills for a 3-2 win over Hanover College (8-6, 0-0 HCAC) on Tuesday night in Wilmore, Ky.
The match started with a closely fought first set, ending in a 25-23 win for Asbury. However, the Panthers bounced back in the second set, equalizing with a 25-23 win. AU regained control in the third set with a score of 25-22, demonstrating strong offensive and defensive plays.
Hanover reversed things again in the fourth set, tying the game and securing a 25-23 victory. The deciding fifth set was dominated by the Eagles, who solidly won 15-10, earning the win over Hanover.
Vandeschraaf's 32 kills surpass her former record of 28 kills, set on September 24, 2024, at Centre College. The 16 digs added by Vandeschraaf with her 32 kills on .348 hitting marks her fourth double-double of the season.
Senior communications major (business minor)
Riley McChord led the defense with 31 digs for a career high. Sophomore
Sophie Glushchak added 12 kills on .321 hitting for a season-high in kills so far for the 2025 season.
AU set season-highs in kills (68), digs (108), and assists (58). Senior
Lucy Kate Gray added a season-high 29 assists and 12 digs for her second double-double of the season. Freshman
Julia Wright contributed 16 assists and 14 digs, marking her second career double-double. The Eagles added eight service aces on the night compared to Hanover's three.
