WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury volleyball team (2-6, 0-0 CCS) slipped at home in Wilmore, Ky., on Wednesday evening to cross-town opponent Transylvania University (8-4, 0-0 HCAC).
The Eagles scored 21 and 22 points in their first two sets, but couldn't contain the Transy scoring that took three consecutive wins (25-21, 25-22, 25-12). AU hit at a .089 percentage while the Pioneers earned a .250 hitting mark.
Transy tallied 41 kills with 15 errors while Asbury had 27 kills with 18 errors. The Eagles had three aces and three blocks, against Transy's seven aces and six blocks.
The first set was tied at 16-16 and the second set at 20-20 before Transy's scoring secured wins in each set to carry momentum in the final set win.
Sophomore exercise science major
Abigail Bruner led AU with seven kills and two aces. Her sophomore teammate
Isabelle VandeSchraaf had seven kills as well, adding 11 digs defensively.
Senior duo
Lucy Kate Gray and
Riley McChord were effective as well, Gray with a team-high 13 assists and McChord with a game-high 13 digs.
