PRESTONBURG, Ky.--- The Asbury men's golf team won its second National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Mideast Region Championship in the past five years on Tuesday in Prestonsburg, Ky., led by individual champion sport management major Jackson Raby (+6, 73, 75).

AU shot 307 in each of the two Region Championship rounds at the Stonecrest Golf Course, finishing with a 14-stroke lead to win the tournament at 614 (+46). Raby took first place individually with his four-over final round (75), followed by his junior teammate Grayson Head in second at six-over (77) in the last 18 holes.
Kentucky Christian finished in second place (628, +60) after leading by a stroke over the Eagles concluding day one. Ohio Christian finished in third (660, +92) and Alice Lloyd in fourth of the four teams (664, +96).
The last time the Eagles won the Mideast Championship was by the 2021-22 team, which went on to win the NCCAA National Championship in October of 2021 in Palm Coast, Fla.

"Honestly, it came down to trust and preparation. All season long, we have emphasized staying consistent, supporting one another, and not letting a bad hole turn into a bad round. When the pressure hit, we leaned on that mindset. Everyone contributed in their own way—whether it was putting together a clutch round, keeping the energy positive, or reminding each other to stay calm and focused. Winning a championship in golf really is a team effort, even in an individual sport, because you know your teammates are grinding just as hard and depending on you to play your part. We stayed locked in, encouraged each other, and believed that all the work we'd put in was going to pay off."
Grayson Head | Jr. | Accounting | Henersonville, Tenn.
Head led the pack after day one with his field-best one-over score (72), followed by Raby, a stroke behind at two-over (73) on the first day. The duo combined for nine birdies and 44 pars out of their 72 collective holes played.
AU freshman sport management major Brady Patterson joined Raby and Head in the top five in fourth place of the 22 golfers after his 79 (+8) and 75 (+4) postseason rounds.
Freshman actuarial mathematics major Gehrig Galvin shot 21-over (83, 80) to tie for 10th place in the Regional. Junior finance major Gideon Coleman finished +27 with an 86 on day one and an 83 on day two for 16th place overall.
