WILMORE, Ky --- Asbury men's soccer (5-1, 0-0 CCS) senior sport management major
Jon Gordon scored the game-winning goal for AU in their fifth consecutive victory, defeating Boyce College, 2-0, on Saturday night in Wilmore, Ky.
The game was tied for the first 65 minutes of competition, before Gordon subbed into the match and scored within the first minute he was on the pitch. The captain of the team had missed the previous three matches due to injury.
Gordon's goal was assisted by junior finance major
Aiden Fish, his second in the last two games. The Eagles added insurance in the 85th minute from freshman
Nathan Haglund's third goal of the season, assisted by
Grant Slater (1).
Boyce got two more shots off than Asbury at 13 total, but AU had two more shots on goal at seven total. Both goalies had five saves, including AU captain
Crosby Short and Boyce's Sean Coulter. Short played the full 90' for his third clean sheet of the season in his senior campaign.
Asbury edged the Bulldogs in total corners with five compared to four corners from Boyce. Each squad had nine fouls with no cards given out on the night.
AU has now scored 18 goals in only six matches on the year to lead the Collegiate Conference of the South.

"Coach told me to go out and be a leader. I was just trying to be in the right place, and it worked out for us. We had to keep intensity up tonight, and it was awesome to see us capitalize."
