Asbury Comes Up Short to Hanover; Win Streak Done at Five

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky --- The Asbury men's soccer team (5-2, 0-0 CCS) fell for the first time in its last six matches on Wednesday evening in Wilmore, Ky., conceding a non-conference Division III matchup with Hanover College (3-2-2), 4-0.

At the end of the first half, the score was 0-0, and the scoreless draw went on until Hanover's Andrew Pavlisko scored in the 71st minute. The Panthers went on to score another in the 77th and two more in the 81st and 89th to extend their lead to 4-0 over Asbury.

The Panthers led shooting numbers at the break 7-2, but used a second-half push with 12 shots in the final half to break through offensively. Asbury got eight shots on in the match, five on goal compared to Hanover's six on goal.

Each team had one card given out, both coming in the first 11 minutes. Alex Farias received a card for Hanover and Benjamin Rogowski for Asbury.

The Eagles were called for 15 total fouls and allowed three corner kicks, while Hanover committed five fouls and allowed AU two corners.

Freshman marketing major Eli Redpath led Asbury with two shots on goal, followed by Elyse Kaze, Jon Gordon, and Nathan Haglund each with a shot on goal. The Hanover goalkeeper, Rodrigo Gutierrez, had five saves in his full 90', against AU senior Crosby Short with two saves in 90'.

For the first time all season, AU didn't score a goal in the match. The Eagles had scored 17 goals in their past five matches.
