Baseball Recognized with Seventh Consecutive ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award
WILMORE, Ky. --- The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) announced Asbury baseball received the 2024-25 ABCA Team Excellence Award, presented by Sports Attack.
The honor marks Asbury's seventh consecutive season earning the award, reaching the requirement of an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher for the 2024-25 school year. The AU baseball team earned a 3.25 overall cumulative GPA for the year.
"We are honored to be recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association with the Team Academic Excellence Award for the seventh consecutive year," said Asbury's 11th year head coach, Manny Cervantes. "This recognition is a testament to the holistic commitment of our student-athletes — not just to academic and athletic excellence, but to living out their faith through discipline, integrity, and purpose. At Asbury, we're proud to compete in a Christ-centered environment where pursuing excellence in the classroom and on the field is part of a greater calling."
About the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
