  • What does serving, training, and competing for the glory of God mean to you?

Serving, training, and competing for the glory of God means illustrating and portraying Christ in all you do.

Serving is humbly going lower—putting others before yourself, just as Christ did.

Training is being intentional with the gifts Jesus has given you—developing them with passion, patience, and purpose, not for personal gain, but to honor the One who gave them.

Competing means showing up with excitement and intensity, not just to perform well, but to portray Christ well.

  • Who are some of the coaches, faculty and staff that have impacted you at AU?

I have been greatly impacted by Coach Crist.

He consistently shows us what it looks like to joyfully walk with Jesus. He greets us regularly with devotions that reflect his deep love for Christ and his desire for us to grow closer to Him. While he cares deeply about helping us improve our performance on the course, his greater priority is our spiritual growth.

Coach Crist brings intentionality into everything we do—whether we’re serving, training, or competing. He leads with wisdom, purpose, and gentleness, always keeping Jesus at the center. It’s evident in every word and action that he is running to Jesus every moment of his life. He’s not just our coach—he’s a living reflection of a life fully surrendered to Christ, and I’ve been deeply impacted by his example.

  • How has God impacted your walk with Him during your time at Asbury?

Asbury has been a place that has encouraged, affirmed, and nurtured my faith. I've been encouraged by the way my friends, teammates, coaches, and professors genuinely follow Jesus.

I’ve felt deeply affirmed as I walk in obedience to my calling, and my faith has been continually nurtured by a community that consistently pours out the love of Christ.

  • What advice would you give new student-athletes coming to Asbury?

I would encourage new student-athletes to live open-armed and open-handed—open-armed to surrender everything you're holding to Jesus, and open-handed to receive all that He has for you.

Lucy Kate works hard and contributes to our competitive success, but her impact on the team extends far beyond her running. Her smile, laugh, and encouraging words lift the team to a higher level every day at practice and our meets. The love of Christ truly shines through her.
