KNOXVILLE, Tenn.--- Asbury men's and women's cross country turned in their best performances of the season, with the women finishing second out of 11 teams and the men placing sixth out of 12 teams. The Eagles were led by Emma Groff and Lucas Hollinden, who each finished fifth individually while recording new personal best times.

The women's team delivered one of the strongest performances in program history, finishing second despite competing without school record holder Bailey Gassmann, who was attending a required academic event.

Team captain Emma Groff led the Eagles with a fifth-place finish out of 88 competitors, recording a personal-best 6K time of 23:31.6.  Emma Le Duc followed closely behind, placing seventh in 23:43.3 and cutting nearly 40 seconds off her previous personal best.

Beth Ragain, Lucy Kate Gibson, and Kennedy Cabell rounded out the Eagles' scoring five, with all three recording career-best times.

The men's team Lucas Hollinden finished fifth out of 136 runners in the 8K with a personal-best time of 26:29.9, improving his previous best by 10 seconds.

Zabrey Bortz, Jojo Ernst, Teddy O'Neal, and Harris Yates completed the men's scoring five, with each runner recording a new personal-best time to cap off an outstanding day for the Eagles.

"This was an amazing day for us.  I don't know that I've ever had this many runners set a new personal record best on a course we know is a  legal distance.  This has been a brutal fall of training in the heat, competing in the heat, and racing on hilly courses.  Finally, today was perfect. Temperature in the mid 60s on a pancake flat course with good competition. We took full advantage of it. It capped off a fun fall break retreat for us where we enjoyed fun activities, good food, and inspiring team devotions.  I think this will put us in a good frame of mind as we look forward to the conference championship meet in two weeks."
