Eagles Finish Regular Season With Sweep of LaGrange on Senior Day; Earn Five Seed in CCS Tournament

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE Ky --- On a day that Asbury softball (22-12, 9-7 CCS) celebrated their 2025 senior class, the Eagles swept LaGrange College (18-20, 8-8 CCS) to earn the No. 5 seed in the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, 5-2 and 8-7.

The team celebrated seniors Josie Deatherage, Kaylee Strunk, and Kaitlyn Wilson in between games for their contributions to #TeamAU.

Game One | ASBURY 5, LAGRANGE 2
 LaGrange struck first in the top of the first inning off a sacrifice fly, 1-0 in favor of the Panthers.

The Eagles scored their first run off a Moira Tinsley RBI single, scoring Samantha Bottom, 1-1.

The Panthers grabbed the leads again in the fifth inning, coming off a RBI double, 2-1 LC.

Asbury responded in the bottom half of the fifth with four more runs, those runs proved to be enough to give Asbury a victory, 5-2. Natalie Ison, Moira Tinsley, and Emily Zink all collected RBI in the inning to give AU the lead.

Josie Deatherage finished her complete game in the seventh inning, her seventh win of the year, striking out five in route to the win.

Game Two | ASBURY 8, LAGRANGE 7
An Emily Zink two-RBI double in the third inning got the scoring started for both sides, AU leads 2-0.

LaGrange responded in the fifth and sixth innings, posting six runs, one in the fifth and a five spot in the sixth inning, 6-2 LaGrange.

Asbury answered back with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Natalie Ison, Emily Zink, Daegan Flamm, Emma Popplewell, and Tori Giurgevich all had RBI's to push AU to a 8-6 advantage.

LaGrange answered back with one in the last frame and had a chance to add more with bases loaded and two outs, but Sidney Hansen got the Panthers to fly out to Kaitlyn Wilson and ended the game 8-7 Asbury.

Kaylee Strunk and Sidney Hansen were in the pitching circle and combined for the win, Hansen earning her seventh of the year.

The Panthers out-hit AU 14-7, but the Eagles earned 13 combined hit-by-pitches and walks.

STORY - NEXT UP
The Eagles next match-up with will come against No. 4 Piedmont in the CCS Tournament next week in Montgomery, Al., at 11 AM.
