CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.--- The No. 1 seed Asbury men's tennis team (12-3, 6-0 CCS) swept No. 4 seed Belhaven University (10-9, 3-3 CCS) on Friday morning in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Semifinals in Chattanooga, Tenn.,, 4-0, for a spot in the championship on Saturday at 10 am against No. 3 seed Piedmont University.
The No. 1 doubles team for Asbury took a 6-2 win over Belhaven, led by juniors
Franco Patino and
Ignacio Ardiles. AU seniors
Alejandro Caceres and
Gregorio Bustingorri secured the No. 3 doubles match, 6-3, giving the Eagles the doubles point.
It was Asbury sophomores,
Ben Moore and
Andres Caceres, as well as Ardiles taking victories in each of their singles matches in straight-sets to give AU the 4-0 overall win.
Moore defeated Belhaven 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 3 match. Caceres went for the full sweep in the No. 5 matchup, 6-0, 6-0, while Ardiles won the No. 4 contest 6-1, 6-2.
"We were able to compete confident in our abilities and stayed high energy on and off the court today! I feel like we are playing very well going into the finals. I also know that it will take our best focus to bring it home!"

The Eagles will play for the CCS Championship on Saturday morning at 10 am against No. 3 seed Piedmont, with an opportunity to be the first Asbury Athletics team to compete in an NCAA Division III National Tournament.
