
LIMA, Ohio.--- The Asbury men's golf team tied for fourth overall out of 10 teams in the University of Northwestern Ohio Spring Invite over the weekend. Senior accounting major Garrett Sturges tied for ninth individually in the tournament out of 42 golfers.
AU (+69) tied with the University of Rio Grande (+69) in fourth place, trailing behind Northwestern Ohio B (+47) in third, Tennessee Wesleyan (+31) in second, and Northwest Ohio (+26) in first. The Eagles shot their best round of the tournament in the third and final round at 304 (+16).
Responding from a +33 total score in the first round, Asbury shot +20 as a team in the second round on day one and improved again on day two.
Sturges, a Brookeline, N.H., native and the reigning Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Player of the Week finished only four strokes behind first place at +10 over three rounds of golf. He shot a 77 (+5), 74 (+2), and a 75 (+3) on the final day with a tournament-high five birdies during his second round.
AU freshman business administration major Jackson Raby shot a 76 (+4), 78 (+6), and a 75 (+3) to placed tied for 16th overall. The reigning CCS Rookie of the Week had 15 pars in the final round and four birdies on the weekend.
Sophomore Grayson Head finished tied for 21st after shooting his best round of the weekend on the final day at a 76 (+2). Head improved each round after an 83 (+11) in the first and then a 78 (+6) in the second.

The Eagles now move into postseason and look toward the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Championship in Dalton, Ga., April 28-30 at Dalton Country Club.
