Eagles Ninth-Inning Rally Comes Up Short at MSJ; Beaman Career-Night

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
CINCINNATI, Ohio.--- Asbury baseball (7-21, 1-11 CCS) sophomore sport management major Aaron Beaman had a career-high four hits on Tuesday night in Cincinnati, Ohio, but the Eagles slipped to Mount St. Joseph (19-10, 8-6 HCAC) after six runs in the top of the ninth, 9-8.

Beaman is now tied with graduate student Kaden Dugle for a team-high at 27 hits apiece. The Franklin, Tenn., native went 4-6 with a double, RBI, stolen base, and run scored on the night.

AU junior business administration major Andrew Billington had a two-hit game with a team-high three RBIs and two stolen bases. The Asbury offense out-hit MSJ 16-9, their second-highest hit total of the season.

Sophomore Jacob Camfield got the start for Asbury and went five innings of one-run work on the mound to start the game. Cam Weaver had three hits while Bryce Hayden collected two hits for AU.

MSJ scored in the bottom of the first behind a lead-off triple, and then neither team scored for the next three innings. Asbury used three hits in the fifth to score two and take the lead, 2-1, but MSJ responded with five runs in the sixth on two hits and four walks, 6-2.

AU entered the ninth inning trailing, 8-3, and rallied for six hits with an MSJ error to score six runs and take the lead heading into the bottom of the ninth, 9-8. Asbury scored five of the runs with two outs, clutch hits coming from Dugle, Billington, and Cayden Perry

MSJ worked three walks and used a walk-off double to right field to win the game in the ninth, 10-9.

STORY - QUOTE
"I'm very proud of this team for battling until the very end on a cold night on the road. Those six runs in the ninth were extremely gutsy, and we had some big-time at-bats from our offense late to give us a chance. Credit to MSJ for the way they played, that's a really good team."
