WILMORE, Ky--- Asbury softball (18-10, 7-5 CCS) welcomed Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) opponent Covenant College (11-25, 2-12 CCS) for a doubleheader, with AU taking both games on the day, 5-3 and 8-7.
Freshman exercise science major
Moira Tinsley led Asbury with a seven-RBI day, six of which came in game two. The Ogden, UT native added three hits (two triples), two runs, two walks, and  10 defensive putouts. She posted two bases clearing triples in game two, the second coming in the bottom of the ninth inning to walk-off the Scots.
Senior biology
Kaylee Strunk tossed her seventh complete game in game one to add her sixth win of the season. The Science Hill native went all seven innings, allowing just three earned and struck out two.
Josie Deatherage and
Sidney Hansen partnered for the game two win, Hansen taking her sixth of the year.
Game One | ASBURY 5, COVENANT 3
Covenant got things going in the top of the first off a sacrifice fly, scoring one to take a early 1-0 advantage.
Asbury responded in the bottom half of the frame from a
Kaitlyn Wilson fielder's choice that scored
Abigail Moffat from third. Moffat led off the game for AU with a triple to the wall.
A
Moira Tinsley triple,
Emma Popplewell double, and
Emily Zink single scored one run apiece to make the score 4-1 after five innings. Zink tacked on another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to score
Abigail Moffat.
Covenant struck back in the top of the seventh off a Gracie Lacle two-run homerun with one out. After a walk, Strunk retired the next two Scots off of fly-outs to secure the 5-3 win.Â
Asbury finished with five runs on seven hits and two errors. Covenant recorded three runs on eight hits and no errors.
Game Two | ASBURY 8, COVENANT 7
Covenant's Olivia Stefl again, got the Scots on the board in the top of the first with a one-RBI single to make it a 1-0 CC advantage.
The Eagles answered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the frame.
Moira Tinsley slapped a three-RBI bases clearing triple and
Daegan Flamm scored her of a fielder's choice to give AU a 4-1 lead.
Covenant and Asbury each posted one run in the third inning, coming off a Ashlyn Gaines sac-fly for CC and a
Emma Popplewell fielder's choice to score
Kaitlyn Wilson for AU.
The Scots knotted things up in the sixth scoring three runs, placing the score at 5-5. Neither Asbury or Covenant could score until the ninth inning, where both offenses exploded.
CC posted two runs in the top of the frame off a Haley Russell double. Asbury responded in the bottom of the inning,
Abigail Moffat and
Kaylee Korros reached on errors and
Danielle Oldfield reached on a bunt base hit.
Moira Tinsley slapped a bases clearing triple to walk-off the Scots and complete the dramatic extra innings win. The base hit gave Tinsley her seventh RBIÂ of the day and 30th on the year.
The Eagles move to 18-10 overall and 7-5 in the CCS. AU now clinches a spot in the CCS Postseason Tournament with the wins today.Â
