LEXINGTON, Ky.--- Asbury baseball (6-19, 1-11 CCS) sophomore
Quinn Nobles and freshman
Hank Burns went for back-to-back home runs to lead the Eagles over Hiram College (9-11, 2-4) in game one on Friday night at Legends Ballpark, in Lexington, Ky.
AU had nine hits and no errors in the game for their first defensive shutout of the season. Junior right-hander
Cayden Devine had a career-night on the mound for Asbury, going the distance at nine innings with six hits, one walk, four strikeouts, and no runs.
Nobles, a junior business administration major, went 4-4 at the plate with three runs scored, a walk, stolen base, and an RBI. Junior
Trevor McNaughton had two hits with a double and a run scored.
AU opened up scoring in the bottom of the second on a hit and one of the two Hiram errors in the game, scoring
Andrew Billington and McNaughton. The Eagles scored one run in the next four consecutive innings, going ahead 6-0 after six frames.
The Burns and Nobles back-to-back homers came in the bottom of the eighth, both left-handed bombs over the right field wall.
"Our team chemistry this year is very strong. It took a while to get like this but we have came together strong as a team. What encourages me is that even though we have had a very rough start no one on this team laid down and given up. Everyone has done some type of self reflection to go, what can I do to help this team including myself."

Asbury will complete the non-conference series with Hiram and celebrate senior day on Saturday at Cecil Zweifel Field in Wilmore, Ky., on Saturday at 3 and 6:30 pm.
