DANVILLE, Ky.--- The Asbury women's tennis team (4-2, 1-0 CCS) won the top two individual matches on Wednesday evening in Danville, Ky., at Centre College (5-1), but slipped to the Colonels, 5-2.
Asbury freshman marketing major
Katherine Nova took the No. 1 singles victory over Centre, 6-2, 6-2, to remain undefeated in No. 1 singles on the season. Nova is the reigning Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Rookie of the Week, her second time recieving the honor this season.
AU junior business administration major
Ariadna Zegarra earned a win in the No. 2 singles match in a tie-breaker set (5-7, 6-1, 10-3). Zegarra was named last week's CCS Player of the Week on Tuesday after leading the Eagles to a 7-0 sweep over Belhaven.
Centre earned a 6-4 win over Nova and Zegarra in the No. 1 doubles match and also took the No. 2 doubles win, 6-1.
Martina Paillet and
Malory Watkins secured a strong 6-1 doubles win in the No. 3 match for AU.
The Colonels took four of the six individual matches after earning the doubles point to give Asbury only their second loss of the season.

Asbury will play four matches in Hilton Head Island, S.C., next week on spring break, beginning with Coe College on Monday at 8:30 am.
