Asbury Falls at No. 14 Centre; Dugle Reaches 22 Career Home Runs

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
DANVILLE, Ky.--- The Asbury baseball team (3-6) scored seven runs on six hits but fell on the road at No. 14 ranked Centre College (12-1) on Tuesday evening in Danville, Ky., 14-7.

Asbury graduate student Kaden Dugle hit his first home run of the season in the third inning on a solo shot to left field. Dugle, a Shelbyville, Ky., native is second in Asbury school-history with 22 career home runs, second behind 21' graduate Walker Paris with 26 home runs.

AU struck first in the top of the first, putting up two runs on a Trevor McNaughton single and Josh McNulty two-out double. Centre responded in the bottom of the inning with five hits to score six runs, taking a 6-2 lead.

The Colonels used 14 hits in the game alongside two three-run innings in the fifth and seventh to lead to their 14 runs. Both teams combined for nine errors, Asbury committed five and Centre four defensive mistakes.

Asbury scored three straight runs across the third and fourth innings to get the game within two runs at 7-5. The runs were powered by Dugle's home run and a Reese Ballard leadoff single in the fourth.

Dugle led AU with three runs scored, including two RBIs and a walk. Asbury used seven pitchers in the game, highlighted by sophomore Devin Walker going 2.0 innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts.

The Eagles are now 3-6 overall on the season and will open their first-ever Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) series at home on Thursday night at 6 pm against LaGrange College.

STORY - QUOTE
"Centre has a very good team, and they played a really strong offensive game tonight. We didn't play clean enough baseball to get a road win against a top-25 team, and we will continue to work together to get where we want to be."
Manny Cervantes | Asbury Baseball Head Coach
