No. 1 Wisconsin-Whitewater Takes Two Over Asbury to Open Series

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury baseball team (0-3) hosted the No. 1 ranked NCAA DIII team in the country, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2-0) on Friday at Cecil Zweifel Field in Wilmore, Ky., dropping both games to open the three-game series, 26-4 and 12-2. 

Sophomore Aaron Beaman had two hits for Asbury in game two, while senior Quinn Nobles had a hit in each game. Freshman CJ Hussey pitched 3.1 innings for the Eagles in game two, striking out two with one earned run on three hits. 

Game One | WISCONSIN-WHITEWATER 26, ASBURY 4
The Warhawks scored five runs in the first, second, and third innings on 12 hits to take a 15-0 lead over Asbury in the opening game. AU scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh to resist being shutout, led by junior Trevor McNaughton's two-out RBI single. 

The game ended early in seven innings despite Asbury's four-run frame in the bottom-half of the seventh inning. Both teams committed one error in the opener, but UWW used 22 hits compared to Asbury's six to take the win. 

Sophomore Cayden Devine got the start for Asbury, going 1.1 innings with six hits. Adam Campbell closed the game for Asbury on 1.2 innings with no hits, no runs, and one strikeout. 

Game Two | WISCONSIN-WHITEWATER 12, ASBURY 2
Asbury sophomore left-hander Ben Propes got the start in game two for his first of the season. Propes got the first two Warhawks out in the first inning, before six unearned runs came across to score with two outs after a close play at first. 

Propes went three more innings with only one more run allowed, finishing with two earned runs. Hussey came on in the fourth and left with one run allowed after over three innings of work. 

Asbury scored one in the seventh off an RBI from senior Cam Weaver and another in the ninth from freshman Cayden Perry scoring sophomore Avery Hare

Both teams had three defensive errors, with UWW collecting 14 hits over the AU five knocks to take the victory.
