Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Eagles Fall to Earlham Despite Making Nine Threes, 81-77

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky. --- In a closely contested non-conference game at the Luce Center in Wilmore, Ky., on Saturday afternoon, Asbury men's basketball (0-7, 0-0 CCS) slipped to Earlham College (1-5, 0-0 HCAC) despite leading by double-digits in the second half, 81-77.

The game started with Asbury junior guard Jordan Lewis hitting a three-pointer. Throughout the first half, Asbury displayed consistent three-point shooting, making seven threes in the half.

AU and Earlham combined for 76 first-half points, the Eagles leading at the break, 39-37. Asbury outshot the Quakers in the first half, 39% to 35% with one more made field goal.

Asbury continued their offensive success at the beginning of the second half, reaching a 10-point advantage with 15:56 to go in the game, 52-42. The run for AU was led by junior finance major Luke Imfeld, converting two three-point plays.

Earlham responded to the 10-point deficit with a 39-25 run to close the game, securing the 81-77 win. The Quakers made five second half threes and used 16 points off turnovers in the game to earn the victory.

Imfeld led the Eagles with 18 points, reaching 37 total in his last two games. In addition, Jordan Lewis not only scored 13 points but also led Asbury with two steals and dished out three assists. Lewis is now first in the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) with 18 steals in his first seven games of the season.

Asbury's success from the three-point line was a highlight, with the team making their second-most threes in a season game, shooting 11-35 from distance. However, points off turnovers were decisive; Earlham scored 16 points in this category compared to Asbury's five off turnovers.
